We all know that lot's of movies are filmed in Hollywood, Las Vegas and many other exotic, international destinations, but New Jersey certainly has it's share too.

As I was researching Friday the 13th for the morning show last week, I found out the movie Friday the 13th was actually filmed in the Garden State and I never knew that. I did a little more research and found a few more.

So here are three movies you might not know were filmed in New Jersey, plus 3 bonus old school movies that were filmed here too.

War of the Worlds. The huge 2005 Tom Cruise movie featured alien invasion scenes, some of which were filmed in Howell. According to onlyinyourstate.com, the actors actually stayed in the garage of nearby homes to stay warm. Scenes were also shot in Bayonne, Newark and Elizabeth.

The Dark Knight Rises. A week of filming for this 2012 smash hit took place on the Newark Light Rail at the Military Park Station.

Ocean's Eleven. No, the 2001 Clooney flick centered in Las Vegas was not filmed entirely there. Parts were filmed in Atlantic City, and even in Rahway.

And here are some old school movies that parts of were filmed in the Garden State as well:

Goodfellas (1990)

Big (1988)

Amityville Horror (1979)
