4,000 in the Dark in Monmouth County
A power outage plunged several Monmouth County communities into darkness on a cold December night but it appears the power has been restored. As of 10:25 p.m. JCP&L's outage map showed all but a small handful of customers had their power restored in Eatontown, Shrewsbury and Tinton Falls. At 9:45 p.m. the map showed 4,233 customers without power but by 10:10 p.m. that number had shrunk dramatically to 853.
Jersey Shore Hurricane News reports that an investigation is underway as to the cause but the utility does not know what caused the outage.
The Monmouth County Fire, Police and EMS Facebook page reports a fire on a utility pole on Hope Road in Eatontown may be the cause.
