On Tuesday night, Howell Township Police responded to a call about a gas leak. Here's what they discovered.

The authorities entered a home with over 50 cats and kittens living in deplorable conditions.

Howell Police called its Animal Control Division and the cats were slowly caught and transported to the shelter.

All of the animals are now being treated for mass amounts of fleas, upper respiratory infections, skin infections and internal parasites.

There were pregnant cats, nursing mothers, kittens, and adult cats, all of which are now in the Monmouth County SPCA's compassionate care.

The individual living in the home has been arrested and will face animal cruelty charges.

The MCSPCA is in need of supplies and monetary donations to help continue to care for these cats. As it is, the shelter is in the midst of kitten season with a full shelter, so they need your support more than ever.
