These Monmouth County restaurants recently received  the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence.

So how do restaurants qualify for this award? Wine Spectator's Restaurant Awards single out restaurants that have unique wine lists -- selections that offer unusual yet appropriate selections that enhance the menu and that many patrons are likely to enjoy.

Specifically, in order to qualify, the wine lists at these restaurants have to also show full and true information for each wine selection that includes the vintage and the region/vineyard it is from. Also necessary are the full producer names, spelled correctly.

At that point, the judges will consider those restaurants, and their overall presentation of wine, in one of three categories.

It's all very prestigious, and six Monmouth County restaurants were announced as winners just a few months ago. And they are:

-- Ama Ristorante in Sea Bright

-- Birravino in Red Bank

-- Buona Sera Ristorante in Red Bank

-- Metropolitan Cafe in Freehold

-- Rooney's Oceanfront Restaurant in Long Branch.

-- Undici Taverna Rustica in Rumson

Where do you like to go for a great wine selection and dinner?
