We may take it for granted, but here's what I saw thrilling the kids (and adults, too!) at Jenkinson's boardwalk as summer weather kicked in this weekend.

1. Prizes tickets. Kids will be in the arcade all summer long trying to collect as many prize tickets as they can so that they can go home with a fun prize. Then there are the claw games that the kids are obsessed with. And the outdoor games like ring toss and balloon pop! What's better than winning a stuffed animal?!

2. Ice cream, funnel cakes, zeppoli, shaved ice, taffy, pizza, fries, cheese steaks, etc. The funnest of the fun boardwalk foods!

3. Rides. From Moby Dick to the carousel, there is a ride for everyone. No matter how cool you are, you can't help but smile when your stomach drops right out from under you.

4. Sand and waves. Whether you're playing volleyball or frisbee, tanning, surfing, or swimming, it is a beautiful thing to feel your feet in the sand and sunshine and breezes on your face, collect shells, and get in the water.

5. Fireworks. No matter how many times you see them, there is something so nice about a warm summer night and a sky lit up with lights to the booming and crackling of a great fireworks show. (Jenks does it every Thursday night all summer long!)

6. Mini Golf. You're never too old for it and it's a great way to spend time with your kids!

...AND...bonus...how about the Fun House, and the Aquarium?!!!

What's your favorite thing about summer at the shore?
