These desserts go above and beyond. Have you tried any of them?

I think I feel an over-the-top dessert road trip around Monmouth County coming on, after seeing my foodie friend's list. Grab your kids and come with me!

1. The Octopus Sundae at Hoffman's in Point Pleasant Beach. It's 8 scoops of your favorite ice cream flavors PLUS 8 different toppings. If you eat the whole thing in under 8 minutes you'll get a t-shirt. My son and I tried to share one when he was 8 years old and had a blast eating it...but there was no way we could finish the whole thing! Of course, now that I have two teenage boys, maybe we could try to tackle that again! Check out the blog about that great day!

2. The Red Velvet Fried Oreos at The Committed Pig in Manasquan. This is one of my favorite restaurants for scrumptious burgers or grilled cheese sandwiches. They also have awesome tomato soup and fries.(Although I am a bit disappointed that they did away witn the fabulous salads that they used to serve.)  I am usually too stuffed after eating there to try dessert, but I think I will have to make room for the red velvet fried oreos next time I go!

3. The Liberty Cone at Coney Waffle in Belmar. It looks like a challenge just to keep this thing upright! And that's not the only delicious dessert delicacy...they also have other epic ice cream cones and shakes, including the Mermaid Freak Shake!

4. The Ariana Donut from Broad Street Dough Co. in Oakhurst. This is modeled after that 7-layer Italain rainbow cookie we all know and love. It's a donut that has vanilla cake, frosting, Nutella, powdered sugar, chocolate, and cannoli/ jam filling!

5. The Oreo Overload Bagel at Bagel Nook in Freehold. It's an oreo bagel with oreo cream cheese with added oreo chunks. That, to me, is more dessert than breakfast!

6. The Banana Split at Whipped Creperie in Red Bank. It's a Crepe banana split with choocolate sauce, bananas, gelato, and powdered sugar. But I will tell you this: ANY dessert crepe from this most awesome place is simply TO DIE FOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just yesterday I had berries and Nutella in a crepe with whipped cream...and I was in Heaven! You MUST try this place!!!

7. The Chocolate Fudge Bacon Brownie at Cave in Avon. Not only is it awesome...but it is Paleo!
