As I woke up on this 13th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks this morning, I had that same sick feeling in my stomach that I do each year on this date.

I woke up with the same level of grief for those we lost on that day. My heart breaks just as much today as it did 13 years ago for the families and friends of those who were taken from us.

We knew all those years ago that with each passing year, the number of headlines might dwindle, but the meaning of this day, the pain of this day, doesn't lie in headlines. It lies in our heart.

And the way we handle this day is a very personal decision. Each of us deals it in a way that we have found works best for us, and that is really the only way we can approach it. Maybe you will attend a memorial event or visit a place where you can pay tribute. Maybe you will quietly handle it in your own way. We all will certainly hug our loved ones tighter and longer today.

And, most importantly, no matter how we get through this day, we will never forget.
