Come out and hear local young musicians play & sing their hearts out! Admission is a canned non-perishable food item for the Food Bank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties.

Project PACKMAN is made up of students from several southern Monmouth County towns in grades 7 through 12.

PACKMAN stands for Police and Community Kids Music Against Narcotics which Sea Girt Police Officer Rob Melendez has put together to give these talented kids a place to gather and practice music...creating a positive, healthy environment as an alternative to kids who get bored and make bad choices. The group currently has 45 to 50 members.

In addition to the music, Officer Melendez has given lessons to the students regarding drug and alcohol use, and the group discusses the effects of drugs. Melendez says that the kids love to perform, practice really hard, and are drug-free and busy helping in the community instead of just 'hanging out' and doing things they shouldn't be doing. They look out for each other and that's what counts.

Project Packman plays at venues around our state, but this holiday show is special because it's for a great cause and will help feed those in need in our area at a critical time.

This 11th holiday concert will take place this Friday night, December 13, from 7 - 8:30 pm at the Sea Girt Elementary School on Rt. 71. It's open to the public and all it takes is a donation to the Food Bank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties of one can or box of food to get in!

This year they are hoping to break their record of 1,000 pounds of food for the Food Bank! Oh, and Santa Claus has said he has room on his busy schedule to attend the event as well.
