There's no doubt about it. Driving on Route 66 is the worst. But, a solution could be on the way.

Rush hour on Route 66 is enough to make you scream sometimes. Alright, most times. The two lanes are just not enough and NJDOT has recognized that and announced a $12 million plan that would expand just over a mile of the road from two lanes to four.

If this project is given the green light, Route 66 between Jumping Brook Rd. and Wayside Road would get widened to four lanes. As you know, this is the most congested part of the stretch.

Wait, it gets better. They are planning on adding turning lanes! A median, crosswalks and better access to businesses are all in the works as well according to Congressman Chris Smith's office.

Excited? Hope you're also patient. The project isn't set to begin until 2019.
