Every once in a while, a local do-gooder finds a stray cat that has the potential to be a loving, forever pet. Meet this beautiful, furry love.

As the Monmouth County SPCA and other organizations brace for kitten season, there are many other smaller, local organizations doing their part. Some of them are simply area residents that take the time to trap and neuter/spay, and feed the outside cats so that they stay safe, or capture some of them that are loving enough to become a good forever pet.

When these  small rescue groups are able to find homes for these cats, it saves them a trip to the MCSPCA to 'give' these cats to the already overcrowded SPCA. So if you go to a legitimate group to adopt a pet, it could save that pet from months at the SPCA, and thereby help out all of the overcrowded and underfunded shelters fighting to keep their animals alive and on a mission to find them homes.

Here's a great example. This gorgeous cat had been living with a colony of cats in Manasquan for almost 3 years. She was finally ready to allow her feeders to pet her and that was it! They scooped her up and provided her shelter.

She is extremely happy to be indoors where she is safe and receives affection. She LOVES to be brushed and have her head scratched. She purrs as soon as you touch her and is becoming a real lap cat. She even gets along with a calm dog.  She is fully vetted - spayed, up-to-date with her shots, flea and worm medication, and micro-chipped.

Any works with Friends of Squan Cats. It's a small organization of Manasquan residents whose goal is to promote the use of the Trap/Neuter/Release program as a humane method of controlling the population of outdoor feral cats. They do their best to foster friendly cats and kittens, finding them permanent indoor homes. They work with local veterinarians and spay clinics which provide spay/neuter procedures, rabies and distemper shots, combo testing and ear tips at a discount and pass those savings along through their low cost adoption fees.
