I'm a bit of a history buff, so Diane thought it would be a good idea to set up a weekend getaway for us in Washington D.C.. It was a great idea.

Our first stop was a walk along Pennsylvania Ave. to see the White House. I couldn't help but think about the overwhelming amount of history that has occurred in this amazing building. It's hard to soak it all, and incredible to see in person.

We also visited the Washington Monument walked along the Mall and also saw the Lincoln Memorial. The tributes were inspiring and the views were breathtaking.

We also made our way to Arlington National Cemetery. The silence there represented the respect visitors have of the sacrifices made to protect this great country's freedom over the years.

It's a great trip for history buffs, and for families too. Georgetown, where we stayed.  has some great shopping as well as some awesome restaurants, so there's something for everyone.
