The doors will close for good on February 22.

Acme in Tinton Falls is shutting down. The reason? One word. Competition. With a shiny new Super ShopRite nearby and the trendy discount chain Lidl catching the attention of many, Acme couldn't hold on to customers.

A spokesperson for Acme said in a release reported by APP:

Bargain hunters: get one last shopping trip in at Acme! One shopper said she got $340 worth of groceries for $190. She added that much of the store has discounts up to 50% on most non-perishable items.

If you still need to get your Acme fix, the Fair Haven Freehold, Little Silver, Lincroft, Manasquan, and Wall locations remain open...for now.

Now, can somebody open something exciting in the old Acme space?
