How neat to you keep the front of your house? How about your neighbors?

These are my rockers. They used to be white These two chairs have been outside my various homes braving the elements in all seasons at the beach for twelve years!

The paint was peeling, one arm fell off, and they had seen brighter days, but they still work and I sit in them all the time.

But, although they don't bother me, I have neighbors. And they have to look at them every day -- especially the neighbors directly across the street. My old chairs are their view out the front window of their house.

So for months now, my neighbor has said "One day I'm gonna paint those chairs." To which I'd reply "Have at it!" (She is very creative and does tons of arts and crafts projects around her home, so I know she is good at this kind of stuff.)

Now, you'd think I would take the hint and realize that I have two eyesores out front that I should really take care of all by myself -- but I can barely change a light bulb. Painting? Totally outside my comfort zone. (And I'm guessing there is sanding and stuff like that involved, too.)

Well, I continued to sit out front all spring in my comfy, worn rockers. They had the charm of aged beauty, and I was okay with that.

So you can imagine my surprise over the holiday weekend when I noticed that Nancy had the chairs in front of her house and was painting them.

I waved out the door and said "THANKS!!!". Of course I assumed that she was just putting a fresh coat of white on them.

So I was REALLY surprised and THRILLED that she painted me two original rocking chairs! I love them, and now they are works of art!

God Bless America!

And thank you to my talented and creative friend and neighbor! Nancy -- you ROCK!
