If you're willing to stay up late, or wake up early, you might see quite a sight in the sky as a lunar eclipse is expected next Tuesday.

The eclipse is expected to take place Monday night into Tuesday morning.

During a lunar eclipse, the Earth sits between the sun and the moon, blocking sunlight that typically lights its surface. Some light is refracted through the Earth’s atmosphere however, allowing it to take on an orange to red hue.

According to NASA, the eclipse should begin at about 1:58 a.m. Tuesday morning. The best viewing will happen at 3:07 a.m. and last for about 77 minutes.

The Jersey Shore is right on the edge of the viewing zone for the total eclipse, but we should get a good show, weather permitting.
