Are Monmouth and Ocean counties among the healthiest counties in the Garden State? Some recent research answers that question for us.

While Monmouth and Ocean did not crack the top 5 on this report, which was done by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation along with the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute, the results aren't bad for us.

The study reported at countyhealthrankingorg was done for every county in the nation and then ranked within each state. According to patch.com, the research takes into account health, economic and social conditions, as well as other factors.

The bad news is that neither local county made the top 5, but the good news is both Monmouth and Ocean counties did place in the top 10. Monmouth County ranked # 7 and Ocean County was #10.

The top 2 Counties in the state in the research are Hunterdon (#1) and Morris (#2) and the bottom 2 are Essex (#20) and Cumberland (#21).

So we wake up each day knowing we live in an area that ranks in the top half of New Jersey Counties when it comes to health. And by comparison, Monmouth's rank remained the same as the 2016 report, while Ocean moved from #11 to #10.
