V-Day? Meh....but I do like a good piece of chocolate.

When I was younger and had boyfriends, way before I had kids, Valentine's Day was something I looked forward to almost as much as Christmas. I loved to spoil my guy as much as I hoped to be spoiled in return. I always wished I'd be one of those girls that got surprise flowers delivered to the office in front of everybody.

Then I had kids and it became all about them bringing home adorable school crafts that they had carefully colored, cut, glued, and printed 'I love you' on, in their precious little-boy handwriting. And, just as much, I enjoyed making them little packages of goodies for this day of love.

Now my boys are middle schoolers. And as our morning show friend Nancy Reamy reminded me on the air, they probably have Valentines of their own that they aren't telling me about. Ugh. I am so not ready for that.

As for me, tomorrow will be like any other day. Not a big, special deal anymore.

That said, I did realize that V-Day can be celebrated in the simplest of ways. I walked into work at 5 am and found at my desk some adorable little goodies (as shown in the picture). This small act of kindness from a co-worker (thank you Mare) made me smile -- not an easy feat at that hour on a 5 degree day. It reminded me that I am not alone and that anyone can reach out, at any time, and spread some love.

Happy Valentine's Day : )
