A gunman remains on the loose after holding up a TD bank in Eatontown near Wyckoff Road and Route 36 Thursday morning, according to the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office.

Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni said the suspect was armed with a semi-automatic handgun when he robbed the bank shortly before 9:30 a.m., and escaped on foot with an undetermined amount of cash. He was last seen running towards Laurel Garden Apartments.

The suspect is described as a black male, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and baggy jeans.

The Eatontown Memorial School and Vetter School were placed on temporary lock down as a precautionary measure while police officers searched the area.

Eatontown Police were assisted at the scene by the Federal Bureau of Investigations, Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, Tinton Falls Police Department and Monmouth County Sheriff’s Office K-9 units.
