The Blue Bishops and Boys Soccer team recently received some well-deserved recognition.

Senator Jennifer Beck (R-Monmouth) had the Asbury Park Blue Bishops and Asbury Park Boys Soccer Teams honored on the Senate floor during a voting session a couple of weeks ago.

Superintendent Dr. Lamont Repollet, along with soccer coach Jean Dortissant, players Fenelson Eteinne and Widmaier Beaubrun, football coach Tim Fosque and players Namir Argilagos and Calvin Simmons-Carter were all there to accept the Senate Resolution from the Monmouth County Legislative Delegation.

The Asbury Park Boys Soccer Team won the NJSIAA Central Group I Sectional Title for the first time in 35 years this past fall. They finished the season with a record of 18-4-1. It was the soccer team's first title since 1981.

The Asbury Park High School football team was honored for winning the NJSIAA Central Group I Sectional Title this past season, their first since 2011 and the school's 7th NJSIAA sectional title. Namir Argilagos will be attending Notre Dame on a full ride next fall!

Jennifer Beck says she was happy to have these outstanding young student athletes and their coaches honored by the Senate in recognition of their athletic accomplishments as well as their academic achievement.

Recent the Asbury Park School District has been designated the 2016 and 2017 Innovative District by the International Center for Leadership in Education. It was also recognized as one of the top three most rapidly improving districts in the nation. The district has partnered with Brookdale Community College and Monmouth County Vocational School District to expand its initiatives.
