Beagle dies after being rescued from frozen pond in Middletown

Another dog runs onto frozen ice covering a pond this time in Middletown but without a happy ending.

Police say a 4-year old Beagle fell through and resuscitation efforts after it was rescued were unsuccessful Thursday morning around 11 am, according to the Asbury Park Press.

Detective Lieutenant Paul Bailey says responding police officers tracked the beagle's paw prints on the ice to determine where it was that it fell through the frozen pond on Melrose Terrace.

Three responding policeman were able to break the ice which preceded fire crews rescuing the beagle.
