Best Day New Jersey

Best Day New Jersey is kicking off its summer season at the Sea Girt Army Base, and you are invited to become a volunteer for children with special needs enjoying a day of fun!

Best Day Foundation, an award-winning non-profit dedicated to helping children with special needs build confidence and self-esteem through adventure activities like surfing, begins their summer season with two events in Sea Girt on July 12th and 13th.

Alexis Downham, the NJ Chapter Co-Chair, says 90 children with special needs will enjoy a day at the beach, tandem surfing, body boarding, kayaking, stand up paddling, and all while making new friends and connecting with old friends.

Best Day is a volunteer supported organization where typically 100 to as many as 150 volunteers show up to share their knowledge and passion with kids who might not otherwise have the chance to fell the thrill of riding a wave.

The Best Day NJ Volunteer Coordinator, Faye Zaninelli, says "Best Day is an amazing event that leaves everyone involved, from participants to volunteers, and all in between, smiling from ear to ear. To see all of our local communities come together to volunteer in support of this event is truly heartwarming. Whether playing in the sand, running through our obstacle course, splashing in the water or catching a wave, all participants and volunteers love every minute. All involved truly have the Best Day!"

Brooks Lambert, the founder of Best Day Foundation, says that magical things have happened at Best Day events. They've had three experiences where non-verbal children spoke for the first time, bringing tears of joy to the eyes of parents and volunteers fortunate enough to be a part of such a heartwarming experience.
