New Jersey Fast Traffic's Bob Williams says he saw a lot of black ice on his own ride in early this morning. "It's one of those mornings where you think it's OK to do your normal routine where in facy you need to be patient and exercise caution.  The unexpected could happen with slick conditions and icy patches."

Bob advises leaving a little extra distance between you and the car in front of you.

The most concern is for secondary roads as well as off-and-on ramps plus sidewalks that could be slick.

8 people suffered minor injuries in a chain reaction pileup in Brooklyn that involved at least 30 vehicles. Fire officials say the accident on the Gowanus Expressway near Sixth Avenue in Bay Ridge happened last night. Officials did not say what triggered the accident, but icy road conditions may have been a factor.

The winter weather pattern seems to be breaking with temperatures rising through the 40s and 50s this week reaching the low 60s by Sunday although they will drop again at the beginning of Christmas week.
