Boy, 16, Struck & Killed By NJ Transit Train

A 16-year-old boy has been struck and killed just north of NJ Transit’s Spring Lake station in Monmouth County.

Transit spokesman John Durso Jr. says the boy was hit by an eastbound New Jersey Coast Line train at about 10 p.m. Wednesday.

He says 12 people were onboard the train but that they didn’t suffer any injuries.

Service was temporarily suspended between Long Branch and Bay Head. It has resumed.

Durso says NJ Transit police are continuing their investigation. The boy’s family is being notified.
