An Ocean County law enforcement source told WOBM News that the roof collapse was reported at about 2:14 PM.

The Asbury Park Press, quoting Ocean County Prosecutor's spokesman Al Della Fave, reports that the trapped worker was killed. A witness speaking to WOBM News reported seeing a body bag on site.

Berkeley Township police neither confirmed nor denied the incident, but told WOBM News that all available officers had been sent to the site.  Berkeley Township police later confirmed that a partial building collapse at the Beachwood Plaza left a construction worker entrapped and despite rescue crews digging the victim out of the rubble, MonOc paramedics later pronounced the victim dead.

The name of the victim has not been released and an investigation is currently underway to find the cause of the collapse.
