Attempted murder charges have been filed against a Brick Township man accused of stabbing a gas station attendant during a robbery at the K and D Gulf located on Burnt Tavern Road.

In a story written by the Associated Press, "bail was set at $540,000 cash for 24-year-old Samuel Patriaco Jr., who also faces robbery, weapons and drug charges. He was being held at the Ocean County Jail, and it was not known Tuesday if he had retained a lawyer."

Additionally, Patriaco was served with a no bail warrant which was issued by the New Jersey State Parole Board, according to Brick Township Police. According to the Star Ledger, Patriaco was a parolee, released two months ago.

"Patriaco was arrested hours after the robbery occurred Monday afternoon. Authorities have said the robber approached the attendant and demanded money, then allegedly stabbed him while he was turning over the money."

Township Police said on Tuesday, September 2nd members of the Brick Police Detective Bureau and the Brick Police Special Emergency Response Team executed a search warrant on a residence on Cherrywood Circle which was connected to this investigation.

"Based on evidence recovered during the investigation, Patriaco was ultimately charged by Detective Brian Farnkopf with attempted murder, robbery, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose," according to a statement in the Police report.

He was also charged with resisting arrest, hindering apprehension, possession of CDS, being under the influence of CDS and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The Associated Press report goes on to say "the injured attendant was taken to a hospital and underwent surgery. His injuries are not considered life-threatening, but further details on his condition were not disclosed."
