Investigators say Sgt. Erik Olsen pulled Carter over in a beige BMW 7401 for a motor vehicle stop near Harris Avenue off of Burnt Tavern Road in Brick Monday night around 10 pm.

Olsen along with patrolman Ryan Talty had asked Carter to get out of the car due to two outstanding warrants out on him from the Brick Township Municipal Court.

Carter allegedly refused to comply, then locked his door and remained inside. When Olsen reached in to open the window in efforts of opening the door, the suspect put his car in drive and floored it down the road which resulted in the Sargent's arm becoming trapped in the window frame.

Olsen was then able to free his arm after 50-feet as Carter continued driving towards Prospect Avenue, and suffered an arm injury but refused medical treatment.

Carter faces charges including resisting arrest, aggravated assault, obstruction of justice, hindering apprehension, reckless driving, careless driving, disregard of a stop sign and maintenance of lamps. Bail was set at $75,000 full.

Police add that John Carter is currently still wanted and if anyone has information on his whereabouts to contact the Police Department at (732)262-1100.
