The break-in occurred in the 2500 block of Hooper Avenue.

According to Sgt. Henry J. Drew, a spokesman for the police department, the resident told police he was bringing in his garbage can and was approached by a white or light skinned Hispanic man.

Drew said:

This male began speaking to the resident about fence work that a neighbor was considering. It appears that this conversation was a ruse to keep the resident outside of the home, while two other subjects made entry and removed items including a large black safe, a computer, and a computer monitor.

The man who spoke to the victim arrived at the residence in a white work van. A registration was not seen by the victim, Drew said.

A surveillance system recorded the subjects as they entered the house and removed the items.

Township police are asking residents to view the video and contact Detective Daniel Waleski of the Brick Township Police Detective Bureau at 732-262-1170 with any information about the burglars.

Information can also be called in to the Brick Township Police Department at 732-262-1100.
