From the day of the pep rally for Christie Rampone at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, right before she left for the Olympics, I've been imaging how great it would be for her to bring home the gold. And today's the day we find out!The U.S. Women's Soccer team goes for that gold medal in a game against Japan at 2:45 pm today. The more I think about it, the more it dawns on me that we are going to be so proud of Christie and the rest of the team no matter what happens today.

Of course we'd all love to see them get the gold, but Christie's ability to be a role model for so many kids around Monmouth and Ocean counties, and all over the world for that matter, is the real victory. When I've had the opportunity to see Christie interact with her fans, and the respect between them is absolutely mutual. Her ability to connect with people on a personal level is part of what being a true champion means.

So, we wish Christie and the whole team the best of luck today, and thank them in advance for being champions no matter what happens this afternoon!
