Everywhere you go in Monmouth and Ocean counties, somebody is sneezing, hacking, rubbing their eyes or blowing their nose. So many people are getting knocked around by their allergies. I'm no expert and I don't know if it's the weather, the lack of rain the wind or what, but a lot of us are having a rough time.
The forecast is calling for highs near 70 today, some places might even reach higher into the mid and upper 70s. We've had a taste of summer here at the Jersey Shore, so surely we've all been soaking it up outside, right?
Attention sky dorks...we're in for a rare treat. If the weather cooperates, we will be able to see Venus and Jupiter glowing very brightly near each other for several hours after sunset starting tonight.
I love spring and summer. I can't say the same for winter. I'm certainly not complaining about this winter because we've obviously been very lucky, and this weekend was unbelievable! I even went out to buy a new grill, a true sign of spring fever. After this weekend, every bone in my body is saying that winter is ov...ov...sorry I can't say it, I'm too superstitious.
So on this cold and rainy day, I can't help but think about how nice a warm and sunny beach day would be...complete with flip flops and that yummy smell of sunscreen...and so I'm here to let you know the countdown is on. Exactly how far away is Memorial Day Weekend?
I know it's still February and we're not out of the winter woods yet, but this weather certainly has me, and many others, thinking about spring. I love it because nothing's better than nice weather at the Jersey Shore, and it means summer is right around the corner. For me, the first sign of spring is the Belmar St. Patrick's Day Parade. I know it's not the official start, but it works for me!
Winter is halfway over and we haven't seen much in the way of snow here at the Shore. Today's forecast is calling for maybe some wet snow in areas, but that's not REAL snow. Do you feel cheated by this winter?
So far so good. I know Saturday was a little shaky, but here we are nearing the end of January and..so far so good. Do you remember last year? Of course you do. We got buried under a pile of snow right after Christmas and didn't see the front lawn again until March.
We've been lucky this winter (knock on wood) with the lack of snow thus far. This weekend though, brought enough slow and sloppy mess to make trouble on the roads...especially for the lazy folks who don't clean off their cars!
