I don’t know about you, but this crappy spring weather has me fantasizing about dipping into a hot tub—maybe one with an automated cover that doubles as a screened gazebo.

I started to look into it a little more with my friends at Central Jersey Pools, Patio & More, and—lo and behold—hot tubs can be beneficial to your health. Let me explain:

1) Hydromassage and hydrotherapy can help with lower back pain, sleeplessness, post exercise recovery, restless leg syndrome, leg cramps, arthritis and fibromyalgia, according to Jacuzzi’s website. In fact, Candido Jacuzzi created a portable spa pump to help with his toddler’s pain decades ago, and in 2015, Jacuzzi became the official hot tub of the U.S. Ski Team to promote training recovery.

2) Swim spas offer an adjustable current so you can swim in them at your speed and ability (great low-impact exercise!) while enjoying the other benefits of a spa. Some models are large enough that you can walk or jog through the water, putting less stress on your joints than you would on dry land. (Check out the TidalFit and True Swim lines.)

3) Hot tubs also can alleviate stress and headaches. According to Lifehack.org: “By dilating the blood vessels, it can decrease pressure in your head which helps get rid of headaches while general relaxation and warmth continue the process. If you suffer from headaches then some good spa baths can help you fix it.”

So, if you have a diagnosed medical condition, I’d suggest asking your doctor about how a hot tub might help you. If you think you’d be interested in buying a hot tub, reach out to the people at Central Jersey Pools, Patio & More to learn about the seven hot tub brands they carry!
