There are big changes coming to a legendary Rumson restaurant which first opened in 1969.

What's Your Beef on W. River Rd. was long-known for its casual feel, special ordering process, and of course, that infamous salad bar.

For better or worse, just about everything patrons knew and love about the restaurant is changing...except for the address.

Local restaurateur Marilyn Schlossbach, known for hotspots like Langosta Lounge and Pop's Garage in Asbury Park, took over the Rumson eatery back in March, telling RedBankGreen.com, "We’re not looking to start a whole new concept here."

Clearly that plan has changed as they attempt to 'freshen up' the admittedly dated restaurant.

That old-school salad bar and process of choosing your cut of meat directly from the chef is gone, along with the What's Your Beef name.

The Two River Times reports the restaurant will now be known as Russell & Bette's, featuring 'affordable dinners' that align with the farm-to-table concept Schlossbach is known for.

Reaction to the news has been mixed. Many long-time WYB patrons are angry that the iconic eatery is now gone, and have vowed not to try the new place out of spite. Others have said the restaurant was sorely in need of an upgrade, and welcome the makeover.

The restaurant has been undergoing some remodeling, but is expected to reopen with the changes in place on Monday, October 31st.

Change is never easy, but I'm willing to give them a shot! Best of luck to the Russell & Bette's team!
