Between the Italian Festival signs in Ocean Township and the Back to School displays in the stores, we are reminded that in a few weeks summer 2018 at the Jersey Shore will be history.  Now is the time to enjoy every summer event…especially the FREE ones.

The Italian American Association of the Township of Ocean is proud to present the 42nd Annual Township of Ocean Italian Festival August 8th through Sunday, August 12th.  Admission and parking are FREE at Joe Palaia Park in Oakhurst.  The event runs daily from 5 p.m. until 11 p.m. with special features every night. Wednesday is discount ride night, Friday at 9:30 p.m. enjoy the fireworks display (sponsored by Foodtown of Ocean) and you’re bound to get lucky with the Grand 50/50 and hourly 50/50’s (sponsored by Shrewsbury Volkswagen).

Other attractions include games, raffles, food eating contests, Italian delights (pastries and zeppoli) as well as nightly entertainment. My first stop is the zeppoli stand…it’s an annual tradition. Try the sausage and peppers along with other authentic Italian foods too. You’ll be walking around, so you’ll get your steps in and burn some calories.

Here’s the Entertainment Schedule for the Festival:

Wednesday     DJ Music/Opening Ceremonies/Headliner – Timepiece

Thursday         Opening Act – the Derps/Headliner – After the Rain

Friday              Opening Act – Mixed Nutz/Headliner – Lights Out

Saturday          Opening Act – DJ Music/Headliner – Mama’s Boy

Sunday            Opening Act – Lou Parisi/Headliner – West End Dogs
