If the proposals go through, two major chains will be opening in Freehold.

'Elton Plaza' is being planned for the corner of Route 9 and Elton-Adelphia Road. Traffic is a nightmare at that spot already, imagine what it'll be like with popular stores? But I digress.

According to APP, the builders are aiming for five retail spaces spanning 40,000 square-feet on the northbound side of nine across from Park Nine Diner.

A Chick-Fil-A restaurant and full service Wawa have already been announced.

The upside of the new construction - jobs. Chick-Fil-A says they plan to hire 70-80 employees. The Wawa will be hiring associates as well.

The main concern about this project is that these retail spaces to be right next to housing. Some feel it's a little too close for comfort.

The Freehold Township Planning Board is set to hear from developers Thursday, December 6 at 7 p.m.
