Childhood Leukemia Foundation – Pay It Forward
This summer, 94.3 The Point and Irwin Cars in Freehold are teaming up to “Pay It Forward.” We’re visiting local non-profits and charities to spread the good word and lend a helping hand. Recently, we paid a visit to the Childhood Leukemia Foundation, based out of Brick.
Fighting cancer comes equipped with so many challenges. The Childhood Leukemia Foundation believes that blending with society and managing care planning should not be among them. This is why they make the treatment process less difficult, both emotionally and physically on child and parent alike.
The treatment regiment for children battling cancer can be peppered with unpleasant and grueling hospital stays and lots and lots of tests. The Childhood Leukemia Foundation understands well what kind of daunting process cancer treatment can be to your child.
Their Wish Basket program does just that. After your child undergoes a chemotherapy treatment or a spinal tap, CLF provides one of their Wish Baskets to lift the spirits of your special and courageous child.
And because CLF works with children of all ages, they ensure that each Wish Basket is delivered with age-appropriate surprises.
When I visited CLF, I worked with Kim Wetmore on putting together these baskets. Each one includes a Build A Bear and a pin with a special message that rings true.
Community groups from all over the Jersey Shore come the CLF to assemble these baskets and other CLF resources like Hope Binders and Hugs-U-Wear.
This is an unbelievable organization and I'm proud to call them my friends.
94.3 The Point and Matt Ryan are looking to help local charities this summer and we need your help!
Tell us about your local charity. If you’re chosen, Matt and the Point Crew will come to your organization and help out for a day. We’ll throw a Pay It Forward wrap party at Rella’s Tavern for all the involved charities and one group will receive $1,000 from Irwin Cars.
