Strawberries are at the peak of their season, so why not put them to use in the best possible way?

In a cocktail!

For this week's Chocolate Covered Strawberry Martini, you'll need fresh strawberry puree. It's super easy, just cut the stems off your fresh strawberries, throw them in the blender on the highest setting, and strain the puree (cheesecloth works best) to get rid of the seeds. Sure, it's work, but the flavor is totally worth it.

Ingredients:

  • 1 oz. vanilla vodka
  • 1 oz. clear creme de cacao
  • 1 oz. cream
  • 1 oz. strawberry puree
  • chocolate syrup or cocoa powder (to garnish)

Rim your frosted martini glass with cocoa powder or chocolate syrup. In a shaker combine all remaining ingredients over ice, and strain into glass. Garnish with a strawberry (or a strawberry heart if you're feeling romantical.)

Yum! You can also drizzle a little chocolate syrup in the glass if you're feeling extra chocolate-y.

Switch it up:

Use difference proportions of each ingredient to suit your taste!
Use chocolate or strawberry vodka instead of vanilla.
Use white chocolate liqueur instead of creme de cacao.
Use fresh cherry or blackberry juice instead of strawberry puree.

This one is also really easy to make booze-free for the kids: If you want to keep the coloring the same, use chocolate extract. Otherwise, blend up some strawberry puree into regular chocolate milk. Voila!

*Please drink responsibly.*
