The Historic Village of Allaire has some wonderful December events to get you in the mood for the holidays. Get your tickets before they run out!

From performances to strolls to the famous Santa Train...here are the dates and details about the wonderful holiday events at Allaire StatePark.

1. "A Christmas Carol," takes place Dec. 2nd, 7:30-9 pm. and is a fantastic retelling to get you into the holiday spirit, taking place in the Historic Allaire Chapel, presented by Maggie Worsdale and the Traveling Literary Theatre. Tickets are $20 each.

2. The Christmas Lantern Tour takes place Dec. 3rd, 9th, 10th,16th and 17th from 5 pm - 8 pm. Come celebrate the holidays with a stroll through the lantern-lit village of Allaire and learn about Christmas in 1836. Music, history, and a little bit of theater are all part of the stroll. This is a holiday tradition for many, so here is your opportunity to make it your family's tradition, too! Advance purchase recommended. $14.50 per person (not recommended for kids under 5 as it is a walking tour and strollers are not permitted in the buildings.)

Spaces are limited, so advanced ticket purchasing is highly recommended!  Lantern tours begin at 5pm and leave the visitor center every 15 minutes until 8pm.   This year to help keep everything moving smoothly, they are selling timed tickets to access the historic village for the Lantern Tours.  Tours will still be on a first come, first serve basis.  You should expect to wait only 30 minutes for your tour to begin. The tours take about 90 minutes to complete and are both indoor and outdoor.

The time block 6-7 pm, on December 3rd, is sold out.

3. Christmas at Allaire, Dec. 4th and 11th from 11 am - 4 pm. Celebrate the joys of Christmas past. Experience the sights and smells of an early American Christmas with hearth cooking, singing, dancing, wagon rides and St. Nicholas! This is a day full of fun interactive programs. You can also bring your holiday cards to be sent from Allaire's historic post office located in the General Store. Bring your addressed envelopes with a stamp and they will receive a special Allaire cancellation showcasing a historic building.

Here are just a few of the activities taking place during this event: Historic buildings open: 11am to 4pm each building will be decorated and interpreted according to a different Christmas tradition, Interactive music program in the Chapel: 1pm, 2pm, and 3pm, Story Telling in the Enameling Building: 12:30pm and 1:30pm, Silhouette Cuttings in the Visitor Center: 12pm to 3pm, St. Nicholas and Carolers will  be wandering the village from 11am to 3pm, The General Store and Bakery will be open from 10am to 4pm, Horse and Wagon rides begin in front of the General Store: 12pm to 3pm  (additional cost).

The Historic Village at Allaire, the non profit living history museum receives no funding from the State of New Jersey and so relies on donations, admissions, and purchases made at the General Store and Bakery to continue teaching the public about life in New Jersey in 1836

4. The Christmas Express with Santa Claus! This is a holiday tradition for over 35 years and sells out every year! It's so popular that more trains have been added to the schedule. Santa rides the Christmas Express train and talkd to every child on the train. Tickets are on sale now.

The DAYTIME rides are Nov. 25, 26 & 27 and Dec. 4, 11 & 18 from 11 am - 4 pm and Dec. 3, 10 & 17 from 11 am - 4:30 pm. The fare is $6. The NIGHTTIME rides are Dec. 3. 10, & 17 from 5:30 pm - 8:30 pm and Dec. 9 & 16 from 6 pm - 8:30 pm. Fare is $6. *** NOTE: You are purchasing tickets for a trip on a SET date and time. Each person planning to ride the train requires a paid ticket, regardless of age. It is strongly suggested that you purchase your tickets in advance.
