A third reported home fire was cleaned up on Christmas around the shore and this one was in a basement at a home on Institute Street in Freehold around 7 am on Sunday.

The blaze was located near a boiler in the basement of 53 Institute Street on Sunday morning and was put out shortly after arrival, according to the Freehold Fire Department (Station 15) Facebook page.

While there was no major damage to the structure of the home, a heavy potency of smoke was present inside the residence.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation and is being handled by the Monmouth County Fire Marshall's Office.

The Freehold Boro Police Department along with the Adelphia Fire Company assisted Station 15 in responding to the scene.
