We had a Game Day at my house this past weekend. But technology took over!

I dragged in the big box of classic games from my shed for our monthly Game Day. It's a great time for me, my boys and their aunt and uncle.

But this time technology literally took over the room! First I had to drag everyone off their Quiz Up games on their phones and to the table to play 'real' games.

In the first board game we played, instead of using the regular dice, the boys decided to download a dice app. And it was fun...complete with sound effects when you shake the phone.

During the second board game, we needed to use a timer full of sand. But the one that came with the game just wasn't good enough. Not when you can download an app for all kinds of timers....with pretty colors of sand like bright purple!

And then we started playing HedBanz...the board game where you put a plastic band around your head and insert a card on your forehead that everyone else can see and then they have to make you guess what the word is.

Well, that lasted for about five minutes until the boys downloaded Heads Up on their phones instead-- the version that Ellen plays on her show all the time. At that point I just threw the board game in the garbage.

At least I'll have more room in my shed!
