As fans continue to mourn the loss of music icon Prince, the Count Basie Theatre has a special tribute planned for this weekend.

The legendary Red Bank venue will host a free public screening of Purple Rain this Sunday, April 24th at 8 p.m.

Tickets are required for admission, and can be downloaded online HERE, or picked up in person at the Basie box office. (Seating is limited, and once the 1500 tickets are gone, that's it, so act fast.)

Attendees are also asked to bring a canned food item, which will be donated to Lunch Break Red Bank, noting in a press release, "As we know from the past, there is good that can come from the saddest of circumstances. With this in mind, we’re asking patrons to bring canned food items as their price of admission."

I can't think of a better way to pay tribute to someone's life than to give back to another!

FYI, Purple Rain is rated R, so I'd suggest not bringing the kids along!

If you can't make this weekend's showing, the Paramount Theatre in Asbury Park also plans to show the film during their "Free Movie Friday" event on Friday, May 20th at 9 p.m.
