Whenever we write about a chain restaurant opening, we always get many "just open a Cracker Barrel at the Shore" comments immediately. Well, it looks like those wishes could come true very soon.

Cracker Barrel Old Country Store has filed a request with the Freehold Planning Board to launch a restaurant in the Freehold Marketplace Shopping Center. A hearing will most likely happen in March.

If the chain is given the green light, Cracker Barrel will reportedly be built near the Longhorn Steakhouse and Olive Garden.

Spokespeople have not confirmed the Freehold plans.

This is great news for a couple of reasons. First, if opened, Cracker Barrel will likely employ approximately 160 people. New jobs, always a good thing. Also, Cracker Barrel is famous for their "comfort foods" that you don't find at many other chains. For example, hashbrown casserole, catfish fillet, and meatloaf are all on the menu.
