David Cook Is HERE…This Is Why I Love My Job

David Cook will perform live here on the Point Soundstage today at noon. That sentence is, even in this moment, blowing my mind. It is one of the reasons why I believe I have the greatest job in the world.When people find out what I do for a living, the first thing people usually ask is, "what's it like?" The answer is simple. It's amazing.

If someone had told me five years ago when I was just an intern at our sister station, lifting boxes and speakers and handing out plastic cups at street fairs, that I would one day have my own show on one of the biggest stations at the Jersey Shore, I would have said there's no way.

Somehow, the stars aligned, and here I am, and when events like this one come along, I feel a need to say a tremendous thank you to everyone for allowing me to do what I do for a living.

People call, tweet, e-mail, and text to try to win tickets to our shows and events...and I am truly floored. I can't believe that part of my job today is to introduce and talk to a pop star on my show.

It's absolutely insane to me, and I am so grateful to all of you for listening to us, and for being interested in what we do.

As for today, David Cook fans are some of the most dedicated I have ever seen. They are an ARMY, and they mean business. Their pure love of his music is inspiring. I hope you enjoy the performance today...it's truly our pleasure to bring it to you. And thank you.
