If the town of Deal has its way, you won't be able to park near their beaches...unless you live there.

On October 9, Ordinance #1124 will be decided on at a town meeting. Basically, this ordinance is looking to prohibit non-residential parking on portions of six streets near the beach.

Only vehicles with a residential parking permit to park on the streets Monday through Sunday between the hours of 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. from May 1 through Oct. 31.

According to NJ.com, the ordinance requires permits on the entire length of Monmouth Terrace and from Ocean Avenue to the beach on five streets: Monmouth Drive, Hathaway Avenue, Sydney Avenue, Neptune Avenue and Roosevelt Avenue.

Each residence on these streets will be issued six parking permits.

There are many opponents to #1124, including the Army Corps of Engineers and the 2,100-plus people who have supported a petition at change.org.
