We live on a little beach street that was 80% destroyed by the Superstorm. And we still can't walk around barefoot.

My driveway and front yard are, literally, in the sand. So on a warm summer day, you'd think it would be nice to have our feet in the sand.

Until a neighbor lent us one of those magnetic metal finders -- not quite the same as your classic beeping metal detector. This magnet was so powerful that things just started popping up from under the sand, including giant rusty razors and nails!!!

In less than a minute and in the space of one square foot, this picture shows what accumulated onto the magnet from our driveway.

This is all debris left over from the tear downs and rebuilds that resulted from Sandy. And there are still more homes to go on our street, and all around Monmouth and Ocean Counties.

Many homes look fine from the outside, but are empty shells on the inside, having been stripped (and hopefully rid of their mold) and then left to sit until sold, torn down, or lifted and rebuilt, as many still fight for insurance money and aid.

All is not what it seems when simply looking down a street and thinking we've all recuperated from that nightmare.
