Our Point Pet of the Week thought she had found a forever home not once but twice. Neither worked out for her.

Dixie is a 2-year old Terrier mix who was surrendered to the Monmouth County SPCA by her last family. She lived with that family in Long Branch for about a year and a half after they rescued her from what they called 'a sad home' as they felt she was not being properly cared for. But at her second home it was determined that she needed too much attention to live with another dog.

Now Dixie is looking for a forever home. She is a very social girl who loves people and will greet anyone who wants to be her friend. She sometimes jumps up on people because she gets so excited. She loves to play, and tennis balls are her absolute favorite.

This sweet girl doesn't really know her own size. She is determined to be a lap dog and will try to fit on your lap it you will let her! She loves to go on walks and get outside to enjoy the fresh air. Dixie has made a lot of friends at the shelter and loves it when volunteers take her for outings.

Dixie is very well behaved in the car and can walk for miles! But she does need to be an only pet so she can get all of the attention. She's got a ton of love to give and will fill your heart completely.

You can meet Dixie at the Eatontown location, 260 Wall Street (closed Tuesdays). For info, call 732-542-4552 or email adoptions@monmouthcountyspca.org.

And here's a fun, pet-friendly event that you can attend WITH your dog (and perhaps pick up another pet to be your current dog's companion!) This coming Sunday, April 23rd, from Noon - 3 pm, the MCSPCA will be on hand at the Pups and Pints adoption event at the Beach Haus Brewery at 801 Main Street in Belmar. There will be adoptable dogs ready to go home with their new families that day. There is a $10 door donation that includes a drink ticket. All ages are welcome but you must be 21 to drink.
