DWI Checkpoint in Holmdel Tonight

Getting behind the wheel after you've had a few drinks is never a good decision, and tonight in Holmdel, the cops will be looking for you.

A DWI checkpoint will be set up tonight on Rt. 35 South, just north of Centerville Rd. in Holmdel from 11 p.m. Friday, May 29 - 3 a.m. Saturday, May 30.

If you're wondering what the point is of announcing the stop, it's mostly to deter people from driving drunk. It is also part of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's checkpoint guidelines.

Drivers at tonight's stop will have to pull off the southbound lanes into the Dearborn Market parking lot.

It's not just driving under the influence that can get you into trouble either...broken tail lights, being on a cell phone, not wearing a seatbelt, and other driving offenses can also get you a ticket.
