Electrical Transformer Fire in Point Pleasant Clarified
What was first believed to be a transformer fire on the Jersey Central Power and Light grounds in Point Pleasant Beach turns out to be a voltage regulator.
The incident, confirmed by JCP&L and borough police, was reported shortly after 7 AM today on the Barnegat Bay Island Facebook page as an explosion and fire.
A JCP&L spokesman describes the regulator as a "piece of external equipment" with no major bearing on electrical supplies.
No one was injured and there was no spike in typical service interruptions.
