Firefighters from several Ocean County towns are on the scene of a blaze that's engulfed a small business park that includes a number of businesses including a shop used for wielding.

Lakewood Police say they got a call from a man reporting the fire after hearing a "loud explosion" around 2:20 pm this afternoon at 144 Cross Street.

Police and Fire crews responding spotted the flames and shut down Cross Street between River and Massachusetts Avenues.

Lakewood Firefighters called for backup to help douse the flames and at the moment crews from Jackson, Toms River, Brick and Point Pleasant are en route to assist.

They also requested the response of both JCP&L and New Jersey Natural Gas.
