A deadly plane crash in Maryland that killed six yesterday, including two young children, has connections to the Jersey Shore, and there's a way to help the surviving family.

36-year-old Marie (Wagner) Gemmell, a 1997 graduate of Brick Memorial High School, was killed when a private jet carrying three people crashed into a home in Gaithersburg, Maryland just before 11 a.m. on December 8th.

NBC10 reports 'The jet made a narrow gash through the roof of that home, while the main body of the plane came to rest against a second house. A wing containing fuel catapulted into a third home, causing a large, deadly fire.'

In that third home was Gemmell, her 3-year-old son Cole, and 6-week-old son Devin. USA Today reports that Gemmell was found on top of her sons, likely trying to save them from the fire, which destroyed the house.

Gemmell's husband Kenneth was at work at the time of the crash, while their 5-year-old daughter Arabelle was at school.

It's an absolutely heartbreaking story, and for it to happen around the holidays makes it even more tragic.
