This is a free, two hour event called Pink Laughter Yoga and you'll get a t-shirt and towel! So what's it all about?

This special Laughter Yoga class is being led by trained instructors and includes mild stretching, deep breathing, rhythmic clapping and improvisational laughter exercises. Laughter boosts the immune system, increases circulation, increases oxygen to the body and brain and promotes relaxation.

This concept is based on a scientific fact that the body can't tell the difference between real and fake laughter, so even if it's fake, creating laughter gives you the same physiological and psychological benefits for your body. The Laughter Yoga instructors gets the laughter started through various exercises to help guide you to what soon becomes contagious, real laughter!

Here are the benefits of Laughter Yoga:

-- Laughter releases certain chemicals in your brain called endorphins which helps create a better mood throughout your day.

-- Laughter Yoga is like an aerobic exercise which will help bring in more oxygen to your body and brain, and that will make you feel both energetic and relaxed.

-- Laughter Yoga helps reduce stress and strengthen the immune system.

-- Laughter is positive energy that helps you connect more with other people and improve relationships.

-- Laughter helps to create a positive mental state to help you deal with negative situations.

Pink Laughter Yoga will be held this Saturday, May 21st, from 3 pm - 5 pm on Manasquan Beach at First and Ocean Avenues. This event is FREE....and you'll get a t-shirt and a towel! Registration is available at 1-800-DOCTORS.

Pink Laughter Yoga is brought to you as part of Paint the Town Pink this month by Meridian Health.
