A local man came home to walk his dog, and found his house a mess and the family nanny tied up and gagged.

CBS New York reports the incident happened Wednesday on Opatut Ct. in the Morganville section of Marlboro Township.

Elliott Kreppel's wife and three children were not home at the time, but the nanny said she was thrown against a wall during the invasion.

Kreppel said his wife's jewelry, including her wedding band, had been taken, and several drawers had been rummaged through.

Manalapan Patch reports the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office is investigating the incident.

This street is about 5 minutes away from where I live, and it's frightening to think of it happening so close to home.

There have been so many burglaries lately, but the fact that the nanny was thrown against a wall and tied up just makes this so much more horrifying.

No information has been released yet on suspects in this robbery, but I encourage everyone here at the Jersey Shore to be alert, and if you see something suspicious in your neighborhood, to call police.
