It's freezing out and you're looking for an indoor way to entertain your children. Here's how we did it.

My friends Diane and Joe invited us over on Friday night because they wanted to share with us their great idea for some fun and food.

They decided that rather than just order pizza or make it from the store-bought dough, they would pick up REAL pizza dough from a pizzeria.

There is something about the feel of real pizza dough, and trying to throw it up in the air like the real pizza makers do, that is just such a fun thing for middle schoolers! I even had a blast! The boys LOVED the way the real dough felt.

We had tons of different toppings to work with, from cheeses to veggies to olives, fresh basil and pesto, to meats, which made each individual pie that much more creative.

And what do you know....each pizza tasted marvelous because the boys were so proud to have done it themselves, just the way they like it.

There were smiles and laughter all around. And we didn't even use a pizza stone...just good old cookie sheets to bake the pies (which, at 500 degrees, took mere minutes!)

We will definitely be doing this again...it was a really great night. And not just for kids!
